Terms
Read the first section, at least.
Hide-Tag is made and operated by me, Sebastian Salin, an independent solo developer based in Finland. Seba Games is the developer name I use, not a registered company or a separate legal entity. These terms are between you and me.
Playing safely
Hide-Tag is played outdoors, on foot, usually at speed. The map, the boundary and every alert in the game are game aids, not safety information. The app does not know about traffic, water, fences or a drop on the other side of a hedge.
- Watch where you are going, not the screen.
- Never play near roads, railways, water, building sites or anywhere you could be hurt, and never while driving or cycling.
- Play only where you are allowed to be. Do not trespass, and leave when asked to.
- Stop if it gets dark, icy, crowded or otherwise unsafe.
The host picks the play area and is responsible for it. The boundary is a circle on a map; whether it is a safe place to run is a judgement only the person setting it can make.
Who can play
Thirteen and over. If you are not old enough to agree to this yourself where you live, a parent or guardian should agree for you and know where you are playing.
Playing fairly
Only share a lobby code with people you mean to invite. Use a nickname rather than your full name. Do not use the game to follow, harass or frighten anyone — if someone does that to you, leave the lobby, stop sharing the code, and write to me.
What I promise
Hide-Tag is free, made by one person, and runs on GPS and a phone signal, both of which can fail. Games may break, positions may be wrong, and the service may stop. It has no paid purchases or advertising. In-game coins are game progress, cannot be bought or redeemed for money, and are not prizes with monetary value.
Nothing here removes rights you have by law, or my liability for causing death or personal injury by negligence. Beyond that, you play at your own risk and choose your own play area.
The rest
Finnish law applies, without taking away mandatory consumer protections or rights to use the courts available to you under the law where you live. Nothing in these terms excludes a guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. I may change these terms or the game; material changes will be explained through the app, website or store listing as appropriate. The game, its name and its artwork stay mine.
